Decatur Plant Invited to Attend “Japan Day” Event
Decatur Plant, along with other state-wide Japanese businesses were invited to attend Japan Day at the Alabama State Capitol on March 4th, 2025. This was the first annual event marking the one-year anniversary of the House Resolution 143, sponsored by Mike Shaw and Kerry Underwood establishing the Japan Alabama House Legislation Exchange Group to further establish connection and cooperation between members of the House of Representatives and Japan. During the current 2025 session, another resolution, House Resolution 80, was sponsored to honor the relationship between the State of Alabama and nation of Japan.
Participants from Decatur Plant included those from our Technical Engineering and Technical Service teams, who were showcasing carbon fiber as an innovative advanced material in aerospace, industrial, and sports applications. With approximately two-thirds of the Alabama legislator body in attendance, the event created a networking opportunity to meet local representatives who were aware of Toray’s footprint in the state as well as others with little-to-no knowledge of carbon fiber. This demonstration also gave an opportunity to learn about other Japanese businesses around the state and their products and services. Alabama House members are already planning visits to each business site to witness and further establish key relationships for future business growth.
