Decatur Plant Holds Annual “Barrels of Love” Food Drive
On February 28th, the Decatur Plant proudly took part in the 13th Annual Barrels of Love, a non-perishable food drive organized by Morgan County Industries. As a dedicated participant since the program’s beginning, the Decatur team showed strong community spirit again this year by collecting an impressive 2,531 food items!
This annual initiative brings local businesses and community members together to support families facing food insecurity. Following the holiday season, local food banks such as the Committee on Church Cooperation (CCC) and the Salvation Army often experience critical shortages. Barrels of Love helps bridge that gap and ensures shelves are restocked for those who need it most.
A significant portion of the collected items also supports Backpack Programs in the Morgan County and Decatur City school systems. These programs provide students with essential meals during spring break—when access to school lunches is limited. Thanks to this year’s efforts, approximately 21,750 meals were distributed to 1,450 students, each receiving four breakfasts, five lunches, and six snacks.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this year’s food drive a success. Your generosity continues to make a meaningful difference in our community!
