CMA Speaks at the US-Japan Aviation Collaboration Forum 2025
On June 26, 2025, Toray Composite Materials America spoke at the US-Japan Aviation Collaboration Forum 2025. Established by the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle and the Japanese Business Association of Seattle (JBAS), the forum provides a platform for leading aerospace companies to share the importance of collaboration between the United States and Japan in both internal and external endeavors.
The event focused on enticing the younger generation and employers to pursue opportunities in the ever-growing aerospace industry. Presenters spoke to over 100 attendees, touching on the capabilities of Japanese technology, and the long history between the United States and Japan in aviation.
Consul-General of Japan in Seattle Makoto Iyori, opened the event with a welcoming speech, followed by keynote speaker Ihssane Mounir, SVP, Global Supply Chain at Boeing. Mounir shared his insights on the significant role Japanese aviation companies play in Boeing’s growth. After Boeing, the SVP and GM of Civil Aircraft Engineering Service Co. Ltd. (CAESCO), and the President of Nabtesco Aerospace Inc., presented on behalf of their respective companies.
CMA rounded out the event with speeches from Jeff Hawkey, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Prepreg Division, and Teruyuki Sakimon, Vice President of Prepreg Technical. The two spoke about CMA’s successful collaboration with US and Japanese-affiliated aerospace companies. They also explained how Japanese companies in the local region create new investments and job opportunities.
Attendees learned about the key role Japanese companies play in creating composite material for aircrafts such as Boeing, and that those companies are operated locally. CMA hopes to participate in the forum in years to come, as well as more cross-cultural events that help foster a strong relationship between Japanese and American aerospace companies.
