Toray Hosts 2024 Annual United Way Campaigns

Tacoma Plant Food Donations to United Way
From October 21st to November 11th, the Tacoma Plant hosted two United Way donation campaigns. The traditional pledge form donation allowed employees to contribute to local families in the community. This year, employees also had the opportunity to participate in a different way: The Food Drive. Returning since 2021, the Food Drive saw 155 individual items donated by Tacoma plant employees. Our Food Drive supported United Way’s Everything but the Turkey Drive, which encourages donations of Thanksgiving-themed foods. In addition to the food donations, the total from the pledge forms exceeded our expectations and included five new donors contributing to the cause. The pledge form allows employees to select a charity of their choice, and with the electronic version available this year, we saw an increase in donations compared to last year. We would like to express our gratitude to all the employees who donated, making this Fall one to remember.

Decatur Plant United Way Fundraiser Cookout
Another successful year at the Decatur Plant, where employees collected a significant amount of donations for United Way of Morgan County. The cookouts held on October 22nd and 23rd were a great success, generating strong sales, with T-shirt sales also contributing to the overall effort. At the cookouts, United Way and six partner agencies—Mosaic Mentoring, Crisis Services, Centers for the Developmentally Disabled, Hospice of the Valley, Community Action Partnership of North Alabama, and Families and Children Experiencing Separation—set up booths to explain their activities, helping deepen our understanding of their important work. Additionally, Decatur employees pledged a generous contribution of donations. United Way of Morgan County partners with 30 agencies in total, and employees can choose to specify a particular organization when making a pledge. We extend our thanks to our generous employees, who consistently lend a helping hand to those in need in the local community.

Spartanburg Plant Food Donations to United Way
The Spartanburg plant participated in the Fall Food Drive organized by United Way, but this year was unique due to the impact of Hurricane Helene, which struck on September 27th. Many families in our community are facing food insecurity as they work toward long-term recovery and rebuilding their lives. To support those affected, we adapted our typical food drive to focus on replenishing local food pantries and providing essential nourishment to those in need. Due to the emergency situation, we had a shorter timeframe than usual to collect donation items, but thanks to the generosity of our employees, we successfully collected 156 items, which were then delivered to the Middle Tyger Community Center.
