Toray and Convergent Manufacturing Technologies Partner to Advance Digital Engineering for Aerospace and Industrial Applications
Toray Composite Materials America, Inc. (Toray CMA) announces it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Convergent Manufacturing Technologies to deploy RAVEN Explorer, a customer-oriented, web-based design tool that performs cure simulations utilizing select Toray resin system datasets for aerospace and industrial applications. This strengthens Toray’s digital engineering capabilities and streamlines the adoption of high-performance materials into next-generation manufacturing workflows.
The MOU combines Toray’s expertise in high-performance materials and Convergent’s capability in digital engineering tools. RAVEN Explorer will give engineers and design teams access to Convergent-verified material cards through an interactive environment and conduct material performance evaluations and data analyses, including cure cycle optimization and material kinetics comparisons. This collaboration is designed to support data-driven decision-making across the aerospace, defense, industrial, and other technically demanding sectors, reducing development timelines and supporting rigorous performance standards.
“Digital tools have changed how materials are selected and deployed,” said Damon Call, director of technical services at Toray CMA. “Collaborating with Convergent is a reflection of Toray’s commitment to supporting a more efficient and informative use of our materials through accessible and functional high-quality simulation capabilities.”
“Partnering with Toray CMA reflects our shared commitment to advancing how engineers and material experts work together in a digital-first environment,” said Göran Fernlund, president at Convergent. “By combining Toray’s deep materials expertise with Convergent’s simulation platform, we’re enabling faster, more informed decision-making and helping teams unlock the full potential of advanced composites through accessible, high-fidelity digital tools.”
Engineers and industry professionals at SAMPE Conference and Exhibition in Seattle this April will have the opportunity to experience RAVEN Explorer firsthand at the Toray and Convergent booths, at booth numbers L8 and M8, respectively.
