In November 2013, TCA’s General Affairs team visited nearby Frederickson Elementary School to teach experimental science classes to 5th grade students. With the success and popularity of those visits, TCA was invited to another school in the district, Shining Mountain Elementary School, to teach the same classes this March. In addition to the GA team, however, five TCA associates also volunteered to teach the actual classes.
Kim Arnold, Elena Belcher, Jennifer Lemmers, Kate Schiffel, and Rose Skinner each had a chance to teach a class or assist with the experiments. Over the course of three days, March 12, 13, and 19, the group presented to over 130 students in five classes; two of which were 4th and 5th grade combined advanced students, and the other three were all 5th grade students. The students were very eager to learn about Toray, water filtration, TCA, and carbon fiber/prepreg. TCA is proud to share knowledge of science and innovation with local young students, and looks forward to ongoing opportunities to continue teaching these classes.
